“This guy, for instance. Look at this poor schmuck - his already homely mug, ruined for life. Who would love him? No one with a brain, that’s for sure.”
But the guy on the left is like, “I dunno, man, that pout does something for me.”

If there is a river
more beautiful than this
bright as the blood
red edge of the moon if
there is a river
more faithful than this
returning each month
to the same delta if there
is a river
braver than this
coming and coming in a surge
of passion, of pain if there is
a river
more ancient than this
daughter of eve
mother of cain and of abel if there is in
the universe such a river if
there is some where water
more powerful than this wild
water
pray that it flows also
through animals
beautiful and faithful and ancient
and female and brave

Flash mob in the Copenhagen Metro.
I normally loathe flash mobs unless they’re specifically targeted acts of protest, or beautiful acts of absurdity—like this one. Look at those happy smiles! Look at the surprise and delight on the riders’ faces? It shows that it’s possible to engage in guerrilla art and other subversive actions without also being cruel—without frightening or endangering people. Lovely, lovely.
I’m not really sure this counts as any kind of subversive action or guerilla art, although it is a fantastic collab between Sjællands Symfoniorkester and Radio Klassisk. Because of that, it has more of an advert-feel to it, and it’s not really intended to send any kind of message beyond classical music being relevant and enjoyable sent by purveyors of same, which is not to say it’s not still a great thing to be reminding people of, in my opinion. You should go and see the other video they have up of the Ravel’s Bolero performance at the station.
What I think is really cool is that the sound we hear is recorded in the metro when the train’s standing still. The sound in the Copenhagen metro is actually quite good, but I still think that makes the video even better because as the technician comments, it gives you an idea of what it was actually like to have that experience, and that’s really great.
